1 Kings 21:1-19; 22:34-38
What is the cause of all injustice? It’s not your neighbour. It’s not the government. It’s not your boss. It’s you. Surprised? God’s not! He knows that the cause of all injustice is our inherent selfishness. We are always looking out for ourselves, on some level, in some way. It’s easy to judge Jezebel and Ahab and all of their heinousness, but that same sin lies within us all. And the only cure is being renewed and sanctified through Jesus Christ. We can find clear instruction on how to do this in Micah 6:8 – “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”
In these chapters of 1 Kings, Mark Hordyk unpacks God’s unwavering faithfulness to executing justice for the oppressed – and reveals the root cause of all injustice itself.
