September 13, 2020 GVC ServiceIf you haven't ever read Psalm 84, stop what you're doing and pause to read it now:
How lovely is your dwelling place,
2 My soul yearns, even faints,
for the courts of the Lord;
my heart and my flesh cry out
for the living God.
3 Even the sparrow has found a home,
and the swallow a nest for herself,
where she may have her young—
a place near your altar,
Lord Almighty, my King and my God.
4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house;
they are ever praising you.
5 Blessed are those whose strength is in you,
whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.
6 As they pass through the Valley of Baka,
they make it a place of springs;
the autumn rains also cover it with pools.
7 They go from strength to strength,
till each appears before God in Zion.
8 Hear my prayer, Lord God Almighty;
listen to me, God of Jacob.
9 Look on our shield, O God;
look with favor on your anointed one.
10 Better is one day in your courts
than a thousand elsewhere;
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
the Lord bestows favor and honor;
no good thing does he withhold
from those whose walk is blameless."
Do you feel the joyous peace pouring out from the heart of the psalmist?The comfort, security and knowledge that God is our home indeed. Pastor Paul Vanden Brink, of Grace Valley Church in Dundas, Ontario, unpacks this Psalm and its implications for our lives. As we walk into an insecure future, we can secure ourselves in the God who created everything and is never surprised at any circumstance and is always steadfastly working for our good, no matter what. He is our home.
September 6th, 2020 GVC ServiceIn this weeks sermon, Pastor Paul Vanden Brink explores a short but very powerful story in the bible, Luke 8:42-48. It's a story of Jesus' love for the hurt, the broken, the cast out. It's a story of His love for women, His tenderness, His gentleness and His power. And it is a story that could have been the most embarrassing moment of this woman's life, but instead it turns into a moment where she is completely healed and forever changed.
August 30th, GVC ServiceIn today's sermon, we learn that one of God's greatest attributes, is His unwavering execution of justice for the oppressed. Tired of Ahab and Jezebel's murderous self ambition and blatant disregard for life, God begins to reveal His plan for Ahab's destruction. In a somewhat gruesome chapter of the bible, we see God's true heart of righteous judgement and how He champions for justice. Listen in as Mark Hordyk, of Grace Valley Church in Dundas, Ontario, unpacks 1 Kings 21:1-19 and 22:34-38 in this sermon titled Justice for The Oppressed.
August 23rd, 2020God isn't always a "shout from the rooftops" kinda guy. Often, we hear Him as a still, small, voice deep in our hearts. Elijah was at the end of his rope and could barely go on. But with divine intervention (and a good snack), he felt his strength rise up again as he set back out to do the task that God had called him to do. This sermon is based on 1 King 19: 1-18 and comes from our intern, Mark Hordyk, from Grace Valley Church in Dundas, Ontario.
GVC Service August 16, 2020Pastor Paul Vanden Brink, Lead Pastor of Grace Valley Church in Dundas, Ontario, leads us through 1 Kings 18:41-46.
